Buying 3 lollipops / moves used to be 19 bars. Why has it suddenly increased to 29??? It's becoming impossible to play candy crush!

The price has gone up for all of us, not just you. The reason is because King are rewriting more and more levels to leave us just and exactly one jelly/frosting/move short. So they think we are stupid enough to buy lollipop hammers for these. It is all too obvious though and we are not that stupid.
I have noticed this with other games. If you buy quite a few of the packages at the less expensive price, over time the cost will increase because of the frequent purchases. Because King is a business and needs to earn revenue.
However there are quite a few players who never spend money on the games (I am not one of those people because I will occasionally buy packages etc.).
My recommendation is to participate in contests here in the community for a chance to win gold bars and focus on in game events where you can win gold bars. The episode race can add up to 45 gold bars (the exact amount varies depending on what test group you are in) and there are other events where you can also earn/win gold bars and hopefully build up a reserve that you can use when you need to.

I think King is just getting greedy, I use to buy the hammers and hand switch occasionally but with the price increase it is just too expensive especially when you don't have a lot of gold bars.

Yes! For the second time in less than two months I just hit the Jackpot. Feels good. All I can say is that @Crazy Cat Lad new booster machine had better be good :)
