I had completed four or five levels and only had three to four more to go when it disappeared. I didn't close or restart the game either. Why does this happen?

Hey there,
Are you sure the event didn't end? In the events tab there is a timer, when that runs out the event will be removed from the game.
I would recommend checking that you have the latest version of the game as well and perhaps clear your cache as well to make sure that nothing is wrong with your game.
