It also looks strangely beneficial to be playing in the 6000-9000 range. Those levels seem to still yield average level scores 2000 points higher than those of the early levels.
That's true. I noticed it when I was passing those level ranges myself (I always pay attention to points per episode). I'm not sure about the cause, but it's most certainly true.
This is my screenshot that I dug out from last year's Winter Cup thread. 195k from TWO episodes in the higher 8000s. I wish I could collect as much now....
Number crunching complete for now:
And these findings are astounding me.
How many blue candy points do players score per level at different level ranges?
Are players at a certain level at an advantage?
Findings: Yes, quite definitely, but it may not be the level range you would expect. These are the averages I have calculated from knockout rounds 1 and 2, including all players who played a minimum of two episodes. Sample numbers are given as n= .
Levels 1-1000: 3707 n=13
Levels 1000-2000: 3713. n=10
Levels 2000-3000: 3461. n=5
Levels 3000-4000: 4132 n=8
Levels 4000-5000: 4445 n=4
Levels 5000-6000: 4780 n=10
Levels 6000-7000: 5457 n=6
Levels 7000-8000: 6002. n=9
Levels 8000-9000: 6451 n=5
Levels 9000-10,000: 5837 n=3
Levels 10,000-12,000: 4147 n=3
Levels 12,000-15,000: 4589 n=5
Levels 15,000 + : 3977 n=4
Now how is that for a Normal Distribution? I wish I knew how to do a graph to illustrate this for anyone who doesn't like numbers. Maybe you could help with this @MannyFae ?
Thanks for crunching through all those data, that's precious @christinewupp
Here's the graph.
This result perfectly lines up with my subjective experience. I would not expect all ranges to be equal as there are different level mechanics, different number of moves given, etc. But the difference is indeed significant. I think you are right about better cascades in those levels. For example, in rainbow rapids levels the rainbow streams only advance after all cascades have finished. As a result, these levels are not as affected by the cascades being immediately cut off at the end of the level as other levels. It's possible that there are other explanations, and there are likely multiple factors that make the range between 6,000 and 9,000 so advantageous. There may be a downside in that it may take longer to pass those levels, but I feel that increased points yield makes up for this.
Cornflower is about to reach the best level ranges just before the Big One starts 🙂
Beautiful, thank you! 😃
My timing with Cornflower is deliberate. I've been up to level 6000 before, with the other game I since deleted (Echinacea) and I remembered those were lucrative levels for purples, and I also heard that after 9000 there are some levels with very little purple. So I deliberately slowed down to hang in around level 5000. I started a new game in May just after the last Big One, this time playing 100% by the rules so that Cornflower cannot be branded a cheater by anybody, and I now have almost 20,000 gold in that account. I'll hang in there and wait and see what I can do. The powers that be actually are really helping me: I still get gold bars in my eternally recurring golden chocolate box and I also get ads including a UFO offered every time I fail any old level and it does count towards the chocolate box order, so I am able to spin gold from straw like Rumperstilzkin (or however they spell it in English). The game works in mysterious ways.
There's something happening in the Winter Cup, @christinewupp.
I just entered it now and saw a group of only seven players with the top score of 36k. What is this? Unlimited leaderboards? In the final!?
Good grief @MannyFae ! You're in with a chance here. I guess your leaderboard will fill up soon enough, but you have saved yourself a day crushing time. I wouldn't risk this strategy in All Stars. Of course in the Winter Cup by definition there will be 2025 finals leaderboards. They must be filling them one by one, which seems really odd as the leaderboard number is pre-determined. Let us know how quickly yours fills up. I have 85 players in my board that I started about 24 hours ago. My board filled up within a few minutes to that number, so it seems that it's the number per leaderboard which is pre determined rather than the number of leaderboards. Strange.
Just checked the Terms and Conditions and it definitely states:
"For the Final Stage - Players will be evenly distributed across 2025 Final Stage leaderboards. The top 1 player per leaderboard will be a tournament champion and be rewarded with the grand prize - a year's supply of Gold Bars."
Only 18 of us now. This wasn't a strategy. I was too upset yesterday and didn't bother to join and look at the scores. OMG, this is the second time this has happened to me. And it turns out we know nothing about how King run leaderboards. We'll probably need several test accounts for All Stars just to find out what's happening.
Well, I still have my two old devices I could use for the "Phone a Friend" option to test this out, when the time comes.
I found it surprisingly easy to catch up last night in my finals group. I logged in early, exactly 24 hours ago and then only played one episode to wait for the board to fill up so I could take screenshots of every player's starting player card. By the time I was ready to sit down and play in front of the TV in the evening I was in 40th position. After one episode I was here:
And after two hours leisurely play I was at the top:
I am using this event now to work out the best strategy for All Stars. Last night I used the strategy to play a party popper +/- UFO for all levels at the appropriate moment. You get through the levels much more quickly but I think now that it scores less than using my favourite strategy of reading the board and then using whatever boosters are required +/- 10 gold bars. It's become so obvious which boosters each board requires that maybe 20,000 gold will indeed be enough to compete and enjoy the competition after all. The party popper strategy earned me 167,000 points per hour. This morning's slower strategy got me 178,500 per hour.
If I can play at leisure in while watching TV then why not have a go?
Good luck with winning the gold bars!
Good luck!
