How to beat Alien Invasion

I have found this event easy to win somehow even though I have read posts from others to suggest that it's a nightmare to beat. I was wondering if my general method of playing Candy Crush had something to do with it.

My method is:

  1. Approach nightmare/legendary levels with starting boosters. (I assume these Alien Invasion levels to be legendary, so I play starting boosters)
  2. Play the first move the game suggests
  3. Play any move to make a striped or wrapped candy.
  4. Play any move to create a wrap/stripe combo
  5. If none of the above is possible play the move the game suggests
  6. When you get to the last seven moves change your strategy: Watch out closely to what opportunities the game may give you.

All of the Alien Invasion levels I have so far played have allowed me to win on my last move with a wrap/stripe combo.

I took screenshots of every single move of the Alien Invasion level I just played.

I had the Super Colour Bomb enabled and was on a top win streak.

I played the first three moves suggest by the game.

Of course with the three super colour bombs it was easy to get to this position, which I would probably win with any number of moves now. However, that is not the point I am trying to make here. I carried on to test out what would happen if I carry out each and every move as suggested by the game from now on. I did and no good opportunities to win this early showed up. This is probably written into the levels designs and I have seen this on many other levels: What moves you make in the middle part of the level seem not to make any impact or progress.

This is to where I got with 7 moves remaining, having played exactly the suggested moves.

Often when I have played my usual strategy at this point, with 7 moves remaining, I find the game is starting to trick me and my strategy no longer works. I have to start to plan ahead and guess what the game wants me to do here. The wrap/stripe combo is not useful in this position. So I match the three purple candies in the second column to try get the green stripe to drop to where the frosting is.

Now I have a wrap/stripe combo set up by a lucky drop from the game. It looks tempting but I see an added opportunity to create a purple horizontal stripe as well. This is the move I chose to make. The aim now is to take any opportunity and follow each chance the game presents to me. If you get to this stage the game will not trick you up by blowing us these combos. In fact it made the finish even easier:

I still don't see how I can hit those frostings in the bottom row though at this point. This is the point I must "trust" the game. It has set up this wrap/stripe combo for me to hit, so I hit it:

Now I see the winning opportunity. Do you? It's not obvious to anyone, so this is the point where you really need to use your head. At this point you have to think: The game is wanting me to pass. There MUST be a winning move here.

And there was: Hit the striped orange candy into the purple striped candy on the right hand side of the board. This move will remove the frosting underneath the alien on the right and at the same time clear the row so that the wrapped and striped candy in the first column sit on top of each other for the combo.

I have not yet come across an Alien Encounter level that has not finished in a similar manner for me. Obviously I pass now with my next move, hitting the combo.

This game was nice. I have completed it 3 times. It starts over when you finish. I like that good way for booster.

Hey! Would you like to give us your opinion?
