    Clause 6.9

    Standby In-Game Winner:

At our sole discretion, we may select up to one standby player (the “Standby In-Game Winner”) from the pool of Participants who placed second in their respective Tournament Leaderboards during Stage 6 (Final Knockouts Round 3). The selection will be based on the highest and valid numerical score among all second-place scores across all Stage 6 Tournament Leaderboards. If for any reason we are unable to select from second-place scores, acting reasonably, King may select a Standby In-Game Winner from other ranks, starting from third place onwards.

hey so i did notice this when i first read terms and conditions but i had a different interpretation on what that meant. i was under the impression the the “standby winner” would be just that, someone who is in standby and may only participate on the live final if the finalists from each leaderboard can’t for any reason participate on the live final on a short notice. from what i understand they would be in an understudy kind of situation where they could be flown out to california but not guaranteed to even participate on the final or be entitled to any cash prize. if i am correct i still think that if the first place of final knockouts is deemed unfit to compete on the live finals due to unfair play, being unable to present valid documents such as a passport or whatever else reason that may exist the spot would be taken by the second place on that same leaderboard, no?

I'm also curious about what "hide the dragon" is. I've seen it referred to a number of times but have no clue.

I agree with your interpretation @candylua . That is exactly how I had read that clause. I thought they get the free travel to LA but will only be there as an understudy in case someone drops out. Could be a variety of reasons, including health or family emergency, just like an understudy.

    Dear candylua,

I highlighted the sentence in the clause 6.9 for you. It said the highest valid scorer among all second place in this last battle, not the second place in a specific leaderboard will replace the first place in that leaderboard if the first place can't pass the vetting system or has traveling issues. If your interpretation is correct, the second place in each leaderboard will replace the first place automatically when the first place has any problems, the term: the highest, will become meaningless.

Therefore I said you shouldn't give up on catching up the first place and earned as many purple stars as you can. The highest scorer of second place among all will have the first priority and then the second highest scorer of second place and so on.

That is how I interpret it too, @michimune, which is why I posted the names of the two highest-scoring 2nd place finishers, rather than the 2nd place finishers in each group, in another thread.

It seems that King have caused some confusion with that paragraph, despite their best efforts.

yes, now i completely agree with ur advice that i should not have given up on achieving the highest score i possibly could, but at the moment i felt very unmotivated for a number of reasons including suspecting unfair play from the first player, being ignored by king even after providing information they have asked for, losing my super charger due to an instant “oops level” and etc… on top of obviously being very tired and with a cloudy judgement. at the end i truly stopped trying, i wish i hadn’t but im still very proud of despite that still achieving 2nd place.

what i disagree with you on is ur interpretation of the 6.9 clause. i think i have detailed on my previous post what i think that clause means and even have steamed member of the community such as @christinewupp agree with how i think the clause should be interpreted. if u read the entirety of that clause i think u will find that the standby player is just an understudy for any eventualities close to the live final and not someone to replace the 1st place players who for some reason would be prevented from continuing the competition due the vetting process.

“6.9.5. Acknowledge that being a Standby In-Game Winner:

    (i) does not guarantee entry to the Live Final venue or participation in the Live Final; and

(ii) does not entitle them to any Prize.”

to my understanding a person who would eventually take the place of on player who placed 1st on their leaderboard but is unable to compete on the finals would be a regular competitor on the top 10 and be very much entitled to participate on the competition and in turn the cash prize that is referent to the placement they ended the competition on or else the competition might happen with 9 people or less. i honestly don’t see a way where that wouldn’t be case, so that’s why i think the standby player clause is referring to something entirely different. they also mention that they might select “up to one standby player” and who is to guarantee that no more than one leaderboard would have a 1st place that is for any reason unable to compete on the live finals?

Hey! Would you like to give us your opinion?
