🐉 Gummi Dragons have a new name… Say hello to the Sprinks! 🐉

Realizing that "Sprink" sounds similar to the Sphinx, as well as how another Xbox game, Indiana Jones and the Great Circle, has one level set at the Great Sphinx of Egypt, I've made fan art of the Great Sprinx!

To clarify, the name change from Gummi Dragons to Sprinks is a confirmed update from the Narrative team and part of a broader effort to expand the lore and personality of the characters.

The goal is simply to give these characters a bit more identity within the Candy world.

We know that for many players, especially long-time ones, the original name really stuck and hearing that the new name doesn’t land the same way (especially in different languages) is very helpful 🙇‍♀️ I’ve already shared this thread with the team, and they truly do care about how this is received.

Even though the name is here to stay, we’ll continue passing on your feedback, especially when it comes to how it sounds and feels in context.

I speak both German and English fluently and the name "Sprinks" doesn't mean anything to me in either language. I'm not sure I can get used to it. I still use "dragons" in my posts…. finding it hard to change. I quite liked using the short "gummies" for them as well. Nah, I can't get used to this name change.

Out of interest @QueenB why is the name actually being changed, most like the name Gummi Dragons. So why are King spending so much time and effort changing it. And please don't say to make the game, 'Sweeter' and 'More Interesting' I don't think any of us attend Nursery School anymore 🤔

It's kinda confusing to change names, and I agree with @Carol-38. I like things that are changing, but too much is already confusing. Maybe let it "Sprinks" for a while and then come back to those new names.

And once again King are changing things that don't need changing, instead of listening to feedback on many things that would be helpful to be added, or changed back to their original.

It's also funny how one of the reaction options is, I prefer the name Gummi Dragons, but it's OK. What if those who prefer the name Gummi Dragons doesn't think it's OK to change it, where's that option 🤔

Maybe @Werner_Cichy has an opinion on this too?

The team is currently reviewing how well the name works in different languages and they’d love your thoughts on how it sounds and feels in German.

Here are a few ideas they’re considering:

Flämmchen – “Little flame”
Funkelchen – Sparkly and magical and whimsical
Sprönki – German-style twist on “Sprinks”
Drachini – Invented, fantasy-style, feminine dragon-inspired

Sprinks wird übrigens nicht übersetzt. Wahrscheinlich ist deshalb die deutsche Bezeichnung "Streuselchen" entstanden. 🤦‍♀️🤷‍♀️

Mich würde interessieren, wie es in anderen Sprachen heißt. @sabledo85 wie heißt es auf französisch? @SabrinaM wie heißt es auf italienisch? @Andres-2 die Übersetzung in deine Sprache würde mich auch interessieren.

Another reason why this renaming makes sense is that naming them Sprinks also entails that the Hungry Hatchling that we first saw at the end of 2023, who was called a Sprinkling, is an older Sprink herself.
