You can earn lives by letting time pass, and as for gold bars, besides buying them, you can earn quite a bit by just playing the game :)

Are you experiencing issues with receiving lives? If so, the best way to earn lives is by becoming friends with as many players as you can! And, you keep sending the lives and ask for lives! At least few of them will return the favor.
