That is not necessary. Those players may not know that sending lives is free for them. Some people think that gifting lives will deplete their own stock. Others do not even know it is possible to send lives in the game. The game does not make this anywhere near as obvious as the fact that you can ask for lives. I give hundreds of lives every week and never receive any from strangers (only from my community friends here). So what? Sending lives does not cost us anything.
Make sure you ask for lives and befriend players who regularly send lives. This is obvious from their player cards.
