fairly new to paying although I’ve had an account for years. Really struggling here, please help

Oh goodness these levels have been changed! Maybe you are part of a test group @maddymoo . I have not seen these nests before and I have played these levels many, many times.
However, the general advice on how to play Candy Crush will still apply:
Candy Crush is about budgeting gold, not so much about passing individual levels. To pass some levels like this one, which is marked as "legendary" , players generally have to either spend gold bars for extra moves or play a strong booster about 4 moves from the end: a UFO or party popper. Don't waste those boosters unless you can see you are fairly close to winning at the point when you have four moves left. Never spend more than 10 gold bars per level. So only pay gold for extra moves once and never at the inflated price of 16 gold. If you are not close enough to pass within 5 moves on your first attempt give up and replay until the game offers you enough extra moves to pass with 10 gold bars. The game should offer you 15, then 20, then 25 additional moves for 10 gold each time you fail. So replaying these impossible levels is a good strategy. Eventually the game will help you pass it, even if you play without boosters or gold, but in this case you will need a lot of patience. It might be advisable to restart from the beginning (delete and reinstall the app) and follow my advice here:

In the last two days the ads have stopped working. If you get a chance to view ads for extra moves the first ad works but when you select to watch the second ad it goes to run it but then the screen goes black and it then returns you to the game. This makes it very difficult and frustrating.
