In all events I breeze through to qualify but in knockouts I always get stonewalled on an impossible level for 2 plus days til round over and am out. Is it because I do not spend money on the game?

I have found that the qualifying rounds are in fact designed to allow players to easily breeze through them. This is part of the way the game manipulates players now. They give each one of us easy opponents to beat so that we get to the knockout stage: I am convinced that the players you beat in the qualifiers were not in fact themselves racing against you but saw a different leaderboard in their own games. That way King can allow all players win their qualifiers. I myself got a qualifier round that only required me to pass four levels in three days to qualify for the knockouts!
That explains why you breeze through the qualifiers: Because the game wanted to make it easy for you. The same reasoning now made you get stuck: Now the game wants you to start spending money, so they introduce hard levels that require gold bars to pass. Don't fall for this trick.
The game is trying to trick us all the time like this. Beware of the illusions and manipulations. If you see through them you can actually enjoy playing. What level are you at?

I got stuck on a level at the start of the knockouts as well, but only for six minutes.
Do you not have any gold left to purchase the extra moves?
I don't think you were stuck because you don't spend money on the game I think you were stuck because people spend money on the game. That is, I believe the levels we were both stuck on are designed to encourage those that do spend money on the game to buy their way out of being stuck.
Hello @sandmanandsons66 , I believe that players are neither penalized nor advantaged by spending money in tournaments. I applaud you for participating in leaderboard events. I am usually content to qualify and then enjoy watching other players compete in subsequent rounds. Like you, I choose not to spend money, especially after hearing from one player who spent over $400 in pursuit of a win!
