Audio issues - Can't listen to music while playing - Edited by CM: FIXED!

Just starting today (and I'm on level 10291, so I've been playing for a while), when I switch to Candy Crush Saga while playing audio in the background (e.g. Audible, yt music), the other sound will turn off. The game sound is all off. I tried restarting all apps. Still an issue on Android phone. Do you have any suggestions for me to resolve this? Thanks.

Update: Good news! This issue should now be fixed ✅
A new game version has been released on iOS and Android (Google Play) with the fix: 1.321.3.1.

Please head to the App Store / Google Play and update Candy Crush (you may need to refresh the store, and it can take a little time to show for everyone).

No need to reinstall.

Quick update: we’ve identified what’s causing the background audio issue and a fix is being prepared. We’re very close to getting this resolved.

I can’t share an exact release time until it’s fully rolled out, but I’ll post another update on Monday once we can confirm it’s live.

For now, there’s nothing you need to do on your side and no need to reinstall the game. Thanks a lot for your patience, and for reporting it 🙏

Hey everyone, quick update to clear things up.

Just to avoid any confusion: the info being referenced here is from an older issue a couple of years ago, so it doesn’t apply to what’s happening right now. (I've archived that particular post to avoid further confusions).

We’ve now reported the current issue (music/podcasts stopping while playing) and the studio is looking into it. We’re hoping to have this resolved as soon as possible.

For now there isn’t anything you can do on your side, and please don’t reinstall the game as it won’t fix this issue (and could risk progress if you’re not connected).

Thanks for your patience and we’ll update this thread when we have more to share!

I appreciate the detailed description, that really helps. I’ll pass this on to the team to check whether anything has recently changed on our side that could be affecting background audio behavior.

It’s also possible that an update from Android or one of the audio apps (like Audible or your music app) may be influencing how the sound focus is handled, but we’ll take a look from our end as well.

In the meantime, please keep an eye out for any upcoming game updates, just in case a fix rolls out. If you notice any pattern (for example, it only happens with a specific app), feel free to let us know.

Same! I’ve been playing for YEARS and this has never happened. I will literally stop playing if I can’t listen to a podcast while playing. Hopefully it’s worked out soon!

Hi @yevetta . There have been other reports about not being able to listen to podcasts or music today while playing. It might be an error to be fixed or it might be what the makers of the game have decided it should be. Watch out for any answers from King admin on this one.

As for losing your boosters after uninstalling and reinstalling the app: That is normal. Boosters are stored on the device and all that data is lost if we uninstall the app. Data on our boosters is not stored at King's servers, so we need to always make sure we use up all our boosters if we wish to uninstall the game app at any time. Data of our progress and gold balance is stored at King's servers and is retrieved when we log back into our account.

You could try to contact player support with this, especially with regards to the audio problem, which may be a malfunction:

I’m having the same issue. Can’t listen to music or podcast while playing. Even though all sounds and music in the game are toggled off. I’ve tried changing all settings but there is no work around. I’m not prepared to delete game to lose all my progress.
reading the posts and on Reddit, this issue has been going on for years with no resolve! Come on King, sort it out.

I’m really frustrated and hoping you can help. I recently uninstalled and reinstalled the game because it suddenly started stopping any music or podcasts I was listening to as soon as I opened it. Even after reinstalling, the audio issue is still happening — the moment I open the game, all other audio immediately stops and won’t resume.

On top of that, I lost all my boosters and extra lives after reinstalling, even though I was logged into my account beforehand. I had large quantities saved (99+ on several boosters). My levels and progress are still there, but the boosters are gone.

I’m having the exact same issue. I can listen with any other app open but as soon as candy crush opens it stops playing. I tried uninstalling and reinstalling- all that did was make me lose my boosters and extra lives. I’m deleting my account if I can’t listen to something else while playing

I came here to say the same. I like listening to an audiobook whilst playing candy crush, so not happy!

Tried to reinnstall the app and lost all my boosters. If I cant listen to Spotify at the same time playing is useless for me.
