Failed levels do not generate points. You must pass the level to get the points.

In past years you could rack up lots of points on a single good level. Now the limit on a given level is 1000. (Or if you are using a multiplier token, 10,000.)

I just got 779 on that one two-color (blue and green) Star Tournament level I mentioned, and there are a few frog levels with milking potential, so it's very useful knowing what the limit is. Thank you for discovering it!

Sorry @Jejsta123 but as @michimune pointed out at the time when I wrote that I had failed to take note of my pre and post scores, this time I did.

Here is the evidence:

Pre level I was at 2025 points. I played this level up to this point:

The All Stars banner neatly hides the level number 😉. When I finished the level my score was 3025.

Thanks Christine, that’s very useful information. I think 400 is the most I got on any level so far but if I get through to the next round I won’t be tempted to milk, now that I know that.

Ugh, that's disappointing. I assume you got the pop up telling you that you reached the maximum? I thought in a previous post you had gotten a pop up at 2,000.
