Quarterfinals Day 2 progress: Unusual loss of Super Charger

There was very little movement on my board with 2nd place adding a few thousand points but no sign of a multiplier being played by them, so that could lend itself to multiple theories.
They either couldn't see me on their leaderboard, had used multipliers in earlier rounds, just didn't care or didn't think it was worth it.

I cannot see how they could let multiple people through from same leaderboard in next round as based on last year you ended up with pictures of every final leaderboard and surely someone would notice if a player they had beat to 2nd in the previous round was on a different leaderboard (if easily identifiable).

Hasn't helped me at all in deciding what to do for next round or what I consider a potential winning score win the final 24 hours.

Surely the next round would have people multiplying late on but guess it depends on luck of the draw.

Odds are good this will not happen. We believe it is likely you are sort of "seeded through" if you score high enough, and I suspect you may have. But we could be wrong about this, and you are right that a lot of damage can be done in a short time with the tokens.

I am currently about 60,000 ahead. I know the two closest people have already used 2 tokens each. I plan to wake up in the morning 2 1/2 hours before the end of the round and do whatever I need to do to get through. But I admit that I am guessing that I will wake up in the morning just as far ahead as I am now. We will see.

As of now, I am placed fifth (update: made it to first). The lead player is currently at 40k, while I am at 27k. I only completed four episodes for Friday and Saturday in light of the lost double colour bomb. I have encountered the same glitch multiple times yesterday and once today; they do not kill your streak. Suppose all of them went to sleep, I should easily be able to surpass the peloton that night.

As of now, I will let them mind their own business, as I do not control the destiny of whenever someone will hex off.

Thanks @treeclimber and yes I realised that you are right so I’m ploughing on and if my opponents are waiting in the long grass, ready to pounce late with their tokens, so be it.

I’ve no idea about the passport situation where you are - someone (in the US I think) posted recently that they could get one in 24 hours. But then again people do post a lot of strange things masquerading as facts in here!

It would be a shame to give up now and not see how far you could go, especially with gold and boosters and with all your tokens intact. At the very least you could pick up some nice rewards in the next round.

I have a similar dilemma. I just realized my passport has expired and it’s unlikely I could get a renewal in time (if April 8 is the due date). Should I stop playing? In the end, I think the chances of anyone making the final (including me) are so slim you are unlikely to be the cause of their elimination. I plan on playing till the last round, which I was hesitant to participate in anyway because I don’t really want to play for 24 hours straight. I’m curious if I can get there and have a bunch of gold and boosters and six 10x tokens to burn so why not.

I know players can score that quickly but it's just worrying how quickly a large lead could be caught and therefore how to decide what is a comfortable enough lead. If someone starts playing the tokens a few hours before the end of the round and have most of them available, that could be 150,000 in 3 hours.

Although I didn't enter last year, at least with a big lead you knew you could react if someone started scoring heavily and tried to catch up, but there the only way to counter it this year is wasting a token. X10 is probably too much of a multiplier in that regard and a smaller X3 or X5 would have probably been better in my opinion.

I am currently over double the points of 2nd place but they could feasibly catch me in under 2 hours of token play (although would probably take a lot of boosters / gold too) and I am concerned that they may try this.

As you can see I am playing differently to most of you as I have a different objective. I have decided that this will be my last round as I want to free up my Easter, so I’m using up my remaining tokens and aiming for the biggest possible prize. Checking the board regularly but only playing sporadically.

Very close between 2nd, 3rd and 4th at the moment. I don’t know what they are seeing. Nobody else has used a token - I’ve played 2 in this round already and will play the rest later. Poor old Baky had been leading after playing for hours on end, and has been playing pretty much every time I’ve checked since, and I have to say zooming past him with the token did not feel good.

I’m not a multiplier fan at all. Presumably it will be different in Stage 6 when most if not all players will have them but at the moment it doesn’t feel like a fair fight. And my possible moral dilemma is - do I knock out someone who had really put the effort and time into it, just so I can take the top spot rewards, or settle for the 2nd place rewards and let them qualify, since I have no interest in being in the next round anyway?

With that said - wouldn’t it be gloriously ironic if someone else played a late token and shot past us all. It’d serve me right for my overconfidence!

I'm with you on that, very very strange. Although things can change I finally get your earlier advice/comments regarding players not being able to see us and how this appears to be working much like the episode races. The similarities are striking as I always notice that when I start a new episode race, a person will jump out to a lead that show them almost at the end. This kind of tracks with that as every round i've played there has been similar activity. I would think hat the next round would be "live" but who the heck knows.

I can't believe this is how this round is supposed to play out. I think something's gone amiss with the programming. It's all to obvious, isn't it?

Still, there's no guarantees. With it being the final knockouts, someone might play a hex token late on, so I would advise anyone to make sure they are more than one token worth of points ahead on the last day.

I also started about 22 hours in. Here is my board from last night before stopping for the day.. Abhishek and Miembro appeared to play tokens almost immediately then pretty much stopped playing. Abhishek was playing about 1 hour before I stopped but their score never changed. Woke up this morning and nothing had changed.

I figure it would be good to share our progress, and your thread seems like a good one, @__MULLIGANACEOUS__ , so here's mine after the second day. I actually joined today, about 22 hours after the start of the round. Here it is now:

Mayara has led almost the whole way, jumping to 23,000 in the first half hour but then stopping. I played very slowly and conservatively most of the day and eventually caught up about 12 hours later. Then Mayara woke up within minutes after I got the lead and played another half hour to 50,000, then went back to sleep. This time I actually played faster and caught up at a more reasonable pace. It will be interesting to see what tomorrow brings.
