Can't access extra lives other players have given me

The screen is grayed out and doesn't respond. I tried restarting the game. What should I do?

I just received a notice in my game that you can only receive 20 free lives per day. I might have gone over that.

Hello @skyoblue if your life envelope is grey then this means you have no lives in it, or requests for lives.
