If either of you have purchased the gold bars that disappeared - then Customer Support may be able to help you get them back. What platforms (PC or mobile - make & model) are you both playing on? What were you doing when they disappeared? Did you recently move your game to a new platform (like a new phone) or change your Facebook account/password? So me of these activities can affect your game.

Please email Player Support so they can check up what happened.
Go to the game's Start Menu, then Settings - Help Center - Purchases & Gold Bars - Contact us and send them an email. When sending an email directly from the game, Player Support will automatically get your purchase history and all transactions the recent 90 days.
