In my experience, random crashes are from running out of memory. If you have apps running with background app refresh (settings), turn them off. Try a "hard reboot" - hold down both the power buttons and home buttons at the same time until the iPhone/pad resets. It takes longer to restart, but will free up memory.

There is nothing particularly difficult about this level. I would suggest a lot of practice using level 281. That level is almost impossible to lose, and you can improve learning how to make candy bombs and wrapped candies. When you clear a licorice, it will not generate a new one on the next turn, and it will only generate one per turn. You start with 19, so you need to create 16. I have noticed this as well on an iPad. The problem seems to be if you have random non-Facebook "friends" assigned to you, one of them is "stuck". Uncheck random friends - especially the kingnnnnnnn users - until the send works and the window closes.

Avoid releasing the candy bombs at all cost. Encourage a shuffle by letting the chocolate grow. A shuffle always creates a match somewhere. Try to clear the popcorn and form more candy bombs. Even so, it is very hard
