Yes, this still is the case, you need to every time close the app and not leave it on the background open and you will be able to hear it all again. but you need to close it completely each time :-)

Had the same, I have an iphone so everytime I have to close candy crush from running on the background, then I open it again and blam it works perfectly. this issue had nothing to do with turning on the sounds because it was always on but once its running on the background and then you start to play later again, it doesnt…
