Modern sand sculpting

‘The 20th century saw a tremendous increase in the popularity of the art of sand sculpting. Sand sculptures were built around beachside resorts. More so, competitions were often held which resulted in a dramatic increase of the level of art created. These competitions started offering nice prices which attracted across the globe.

Sand sculpting competitions do not only attract sculptors from different geographical regions, they also do attract spectators from across the world. This has also fueled sand sculpting and even made it more outstanding in the world today. More and more countries of the world have now become interested in sculpting such that now there are various sand sculpting competitions across the world. 

Popularity of the Art - From this time, sand sculpting soon spread to the nations of the world and sculptures became major sites in virtually all the beachsides. Sand sculpting also became a very important profession in western Europe as a lot of projects are being built to outmatch the already existing ones. It is also important to note that sand sculpting is still evolving. It therefore goes without saying that sand is one of the most exceptional inexhaustible and renewable resources to create art.

Sculptors work with a special type of sand known as heavy sand. There is indeed no limitation to sand sculpting. Different kinds of shapes can be draw as far as the human imaginative ability can reach. It is hence obvious that sand sculpting is a game of imagination. Sculptors can work with their bare hands or with different kinds of tools including kitchen tools and masonry to create exceptional, artistic and legendry works.’ (Source)
