Soda's 8th birthday is here, and what better time to hear from someone who has worked with Soda since the very beginning? Meet Emil, a Senior 3D Game Artist from the team, and read what his favorite things in Candy Crush Soda Saga are.

How long have you been working with Candy Crush Soda Saga?

I've been on Soda since day 1 when it first started, and excluding some time I spent helping some other teams, I've been at Soda for about 8 years.

Tell us a fun fact about yourself!

I'm quite afraid of heights, yet I fell in love with skydiving when I tried it to combat this very fear!

What’s your favorite thing about working with Candy Crush Soda Saga?

The team, and the ever lasting support, as well as input, from our lovely players! Till this day I still have the most amazing Mondays, even on rainy days! How many can say that!

Who’s your favorite character in the game?

Olivia! I'm a huge fan of any and all squids, octopuses and such!

What’s one big thing that has changed about in Soda while you’ve been working on it?

The entire visual look of the game! As we made the move to a 3D world we entered a whole new world of possibilities, one being that we are now able to create detailed worlds where we can make a much more immersive and fun experience!

Do you have any tips for someone who has just started playing Candy Crush Soda Saga?

I will say to simply have fun even when it gets challenging, there is always a tomorrow to explore some more!

And do you have something you’d like to say to the many players we have who are at the end of all levels?

I (and we at the team) cannot praise you all enough! It’s beyond amazing how skilled you are! There are always more challenges coming ahead ;)

Is there anything you’d like to tell the players?

We wouldn’t be here without you! It’s thanks to you all that we have been able to have this much fun creating the best experience we possibly can for you all! So a huge thank you!

On your graphic team, how does it work with regards as to who does what graphics? For instance, is there one particular graphic artist that is in charge of updating the characters in this game? Are there others who work on updating the backgrounds on the game? Or are there teams that work to update the characters, and another team to update the backgrounds, etc?

Hello Emil. Thank you for sharing a bit about yourself and the game you love and are a part of. I really enjoy the new look and the 3 dimensional aspect of the characters and their backgrounds. It is much more realistic and I enjoy being able to touch various parts of the scenery, even if it is just to make a candy jiggle, a bird to hop or to see what Kimmy or Yeti have to say.

Thank you very much for your help and contribution to a game that has become one of my favorites.
