There might be a few reason why yellow candies are not considered
The event counts yellow candies collected from new levels only. so yellow candies collected in old levels are not counted.
It's advised to collect yellow candies on one device only, so you're taking part in one ranking only. If you're collecting yellow candies on multiple devices, you're taking part in multiple rankings as well (they're not synced) and in the end, the event may consider the ranking of the device in which you collected the least yellow candies which might not be enough to put you in higher positions.
You may contact King Player Support and ask them if it's possible to obtain a reimbursement:

the collect yellow that give you a gift it ended i had played a few days but it said i didnt match any fun game though.
