Collecting candies/Bacula wonder balls

Beyond frustrated! I get added in the contest to collect sapphire candies only to go level after level of playing and collecting just to remain at ZERO candies collected. This has happened several times in the past as well where I am entered in the contest only to get to the end of the game at ZERO. It is irritating to hope that if you keep playing it will eventually capture your progress.

Secondly, the Bacula wonder balls, I can't even move forward unless I stay playing for hours because the moment I leave the game even for a 10 minutes, I lose my progress and starts me over instead of the 24 hrs it's supposed to give you. I have been playing for years so I know how all these features work so NO, it's not me and it's not that my game needs updating. It would be great to be able to play everything that is offered if only it worked properly

And why do I keep getting only the very low playing players as my only option for shipmates?? I have a long list of friends but only get the same players to choose from that are rarely active
