I've won level 295 twice now, and each time the app freezes and does not save the progress. App is up to date. Any thoughts? As a result of this I've lost two candy canes and one cake slice.

I´d always do some troubleshooting steps first.
Check for updates for your mobile (it´s OS) and your apps. Restart your device too. If this doesn´t help, then maybe think of deleting the Candy Crush Soda Saga app and reinstall it afterwards. Make sure you have your progress synced to a Kingdom or a Facebook account though.
Be aware that you can lose saved up lives and boosters when reinstalling. However, it can resolve this kind of tech issue.
Other option would be to play this level on PC and synchronize your progress ;-)
