after winning bubblegum hill, I was taken back to the game I played for over 30 mins. I was never was asked to retake the throne or given any gold bars.

For passing the 5 levels, there is no gold bar reward, you win Lollipop Hammers.
Then for time spent you will earn other rewards but of course, not if you are dethroned.
