Approximately 2 months ago, the team bar showing cumulative score of team disappeared. This left the only way a team could advance a level and receive rewards is by baking the cakes. My team seems defeated as 3/4th have stopped playing. Thoughts….

that's correct; teams can rank up only with points earned from Bake a Cake event.
Soda Squad feature (points earned from passing levels and chests) has been removed from the game.

Collecting points as a Team has unfortunately been disabled from the game. The only possibility to collect points together is when you bake a cake.
