This has been reported a couple of times recently and players were able to solve it with troubleshooting steps
Let me know if the issue still persists afterwards:
*If you own Android mobile, visit device Settings - Apps - Candy Crush Soda Saga - Storage - Clear Cache. Be careful not to click "clear data" which deletes your boosters
Suggestion: I can think of 3 avenues to increase friends and add group members

eg 3
Or you can go to a finished boards and add from there if you already have friends there.
Last, you can go to the race and add from there. Click on their Avatars and request. Nothing beats a failure more than try! Go for itπ I hope this helps.
