Is there a way to check what your standing is in the challenge to be best out of the five players? It seems random when the program will display it.

Yes, there's no widget on the map to let players check it out.
Unless you have different version of weekly contest from mine (there might be different versions being tested among players right now), you can also see that screen after you fail a level or pass an easy old level.
It doesn't have to be a new level each time 🙂👌

In weekly contest, players have numbers placed near their avatars pictures, they represent ranking positions 🙂
I guess I know why I don't see it too often then! lol
