Can you all please delete the admin 755598927 tinyt group? Admin hasn’t been around in years people are leaving because the group is full of dead weight. I know this can be done because my sister was poofed to an admin recently without even asking. ty

If team leader leaves the team then yes, the game will automatically pick the player with the highest level as new leader.
If it's not possible to contact the team leader and ask them to leave, then the best option is to create a new team under a new leader and join it.
It happened to my team as well when we our first team leader was not active. One of us left the team and then created a new one. Then gaves us the team code of the new team in this discussion of the community forum so we left the old team and we all joined the new one.

Before our new team leader left the old team he notified us via chat of Soda app that new team code would be posted on Soda community, on that specific discussion, under his community username so we could find him to retrieve the code.
You don't have to use Soda community to organize but if you don't have other options, the community is convenient since the link above takes you to the main discussion made for the sole purpose of letting players find Soda teams and is always pinned at the top.
If you and your teammates are newbies on the community, a newly created discussion might not be the best point of reference.
In case this helps the organization before leaving the current team: some of us teammates joined the community eventually and we use the same usernames both in game account and community account (which is needed in order to post in here) so we manage to identify each other since most of us don't use Facebook or other social media.

Multiple community users cannot register with the same usernames.
So there’s only one @marieoieo here on the forum. If you're the one with the intention to leave the team to create a new one, before doing that you can tell your teammates to open a browser, type Soda community and" Find a Team Find a member for your Team"
And to look for @marieoieo posting the team code in the recent comments of that pinned discussion

@Pitty_Kitty wonder why the issue with absent admins isn’t automatically handled. I’d think no movement in a year could trigger automatically deleting someone as admin

And…. My game has no option to “build your team”. There’s nothing there
