CC Soda saga not syncing from king.com to Facebook account

My progress on Candy Crush Soda Saga is saved through the king.com save option (thankfully!) but it is not syncing to my Facebook account anymore. So I can either play from level 1271 with no Facebook connection, but as soon as I try to connect through the game, it takes me back to level 1. I am seemingly missing all bonus items and gold bars too which have been saved over the years (some at a cost!).
Can anyone PLEASE help... how do I get my king.com progress to sync to my Facebook account so I can continue my progress and appear to friends.

Did you already use the sync option in your account settings on King.com?

I'm not sure. I saved my progress to king.com via the gold icon with a crown at the bottom of the app. But I don't know if (or how) I can sync that back to my Facebook login?
