I like Halloween as much as the next guy, but is there any reason why the Halloween theme is still running this close to Christmas?

Halloween theme is long gone. Please check for game and device updates. There is no Christmas theme but we have Winter Season.
You are lucky that you have a theme. This is mine for the last few months…even before Halloween.
