4 in a Row Player Logic

Can anyone explain to me why, when you're playing the game and you complete three squares in a row, the other players start playing squares on the other side of the board instead of completing the row. This just baffles me! It's not like it's a difficult challenge, it's like creating fish or orange candies.

My guesses are:

New players who don't understand the goal
People who see it as a competition between the teammates, thinking they must finish the four squares in a row all by themselves. Maybe they think someone blocked their plan by playing a square in the row they started?
People who play only casually, play a few minutes, then forget the game for a few days. And sit there.

Since some tasks are competitive and some are team relays, the game plan isn't always clear.

Star task can use old levels if the player didn't get three stars before, but........

I have got 3 stars on EVERY LEVEL 😩

Yes I wonder too. 🤔 And also why would somebody chose to just "sit" on a square on the row you have chosen to start?

I tend to wait as long as possible to see where other players will land and if they play, and if so then make my choice. I sometimes wait till close to the end of Day 1 before playing, then complete my two squares just in time, and complete the row just when Day 2 starts. At least I will have a new board and new "team mates" on that day. And that prevents being blocked by "sitting" players.

Some boards are trickier than others, and this one is. But when playing such a board, I usually go for new stars (that can be won from old levels); or, what the heck, go for a new level to close this board and move on to a new one.… 😅

Problem with ads, can't close and not getting reward
