Why and how do earned diamonds disappear?

During game play, the diamond counter that pops up immediately upon completion and the diamond counter on the main map screen consistently show different numbers and I end up losing a significant number of the diamonds I have accumulated. As of last count, I've been cheated out of ~100 diamonds. This is a bug that NEEDS to be fixed immediately otherwise I will have to delete the game. It's an awesome game otherwise but being cheated out of diamonds I worked for and earned is completely ruining the experience for me

My diamond counter is working while using Wifi only. If I don't use Wifi, my diamond counter is not working.

I remember this bug very well in my game but I got a way to solve it
if you disconnect your WI-FI from the diamond diaries, the diamond count stays normal but with the WI-FI connected the bug happens
I already got used to this bug.
