I would try to log in with your email address, and if you're not sure of the password, try to recover it. Progress is usually linked to an email address

Their progress may have been connected to an email address of theirs. Have you tried to recover a password through an email that they use?

If you are trying to change your profile picture here, you can choose from a selection under Edit Profile :)

Was your credit card charged for the purchase? If not, it may have not even gone through.

The ads feature comes and goes for players. If you've made a purchase in the ingame store, then it disappears forever.

Ads aren't always available for everyone. And if you make a purchase in the store, they disappear forever.

I will mention that some events come and go without notice… Hopefully that is not what has happened to you!

If you have made a gold purchase, you may not see ads anymore as they disappear permanently.
