Where did all my beans go?

i was on level 519, I had over 17,000 beans, now all of my beans are gone except for 25! I just beat this level and got the 250 beans but then the total only said I had 340? Played the next level and failed now I only have 40 beans!

Are you using the animal companions at all? Don't forget that each time you play a level with these active, it can cost like, over 200 magic beans each time. I know this is where a lot of mine disappear.
