Hi Lisa, that is very odd. Can you check that your ios is updated and there are no updates for the game waiting please. And I also have some troubleshooting that might help hopefully https://care.king.com/en/blog/article/is-your-game-crashing-on-an-ios-deviceIt could have just been a temporary fault, but sometimes unless the troubleshooting is done, its not cleared.
