Good morning @sheryllyn61 that is soooooo frustrating when it does that.
Sometimes it can just be a device glitch or a simple game glitch but whichever it is really frustrating.
My phone doesn't like pokemon and it freezes a lot. I don't know why.
Are you playing on a phone or computer? I would advise closing the game completely and then clearing cache (if on android or pc as you cannot do that on ios apps), restarting your phone just to give it a wake up, then trying again.
If it keeps doing it, then come back and give me a shout and we can take it further. Hopefully it won't though!
