On the island there is a challange with butterflys blocking the bottom how do I activate them??

I can only get two pets in the challenge with the matching color butterflies at the bottom How do I activate them the pets need the butterlies to be rescued.

I spent a while scratching my head with this one. From what I've been able to work out you need to break as many blocks that are the same colour as the balloon in the top left, once enough have been removed the balloon will pop and release the butterflies. I'm pretty sure it's that anyway.
