Thank you so much @Lynette for the wonderful thread, and @Lady_Choo for the beautiful badge, it is absolutely so gorgeous 🤗💜😍
Christmas time was always the most special event in my life.
As a child I always remembered my Dad sleeping on the sitting room floor Christmas afternoon. We had Winter lambs and he was busy lambing. So he would be up half the night.
We went to a relatives house each year where there was a big gathering, as a a child I never had or saw the food that was prepared before in my life.
I remember those days fondly, and the kinda Santa Grotto, it was truly special as was Boxing Day with my dear Aunt.
Christmas is sad for me as a mum in as much as I long for my daughter. I hope and wish she is ok and happy. Many Christmas's have passed by, and I have not heard from her.
My son has stayed by me, I am so thankful I have 1 grown up child that will come to me for help, or just to chat and off load, and also have time for me too.
My greatest wish is to see my baby girl, my rock, my soul again. I love her so much, I miss her, I don't know if she is alive or dead, it is immense pain. She is/would be 22.
Thanks.
My family and I have already started celebrating this weekend, dining out, watching movies, and taking some photos to commemorate.
Sent it 2 or 3 times already, what is going on here? My comment is stil not showing up.

Hi @Lynette , I wil b celebrating Christmas at my apartment, My Mother wil b coming out 4 Christmas dinner, after we eat wil exchange presents 🎁 and go up 2 c my dad at the nursing home, he wil get a gift as wel. ( not much going on, I have very little family 2 celebrate Christmas with )
We don't celebrate at the end of the year. But if I have the chance to celebrate it, I prefer to having a gathering with my whole family and eating delicious foods. 😋
@steventseng
These end of year holidays involve my family and food. Enjoying each other's company and eating good food.
That is amazing. And very true!
our plans changed for the start of the season. It snowed heavily so we couldn't get to the Christmas market and didn't get to see my son. So we have to wait a couple more weeks.
Hi @Lynette , love this thread. I still have a young Grandson that makes Christmas the one and only conversation. You cannot help but laugh and smile. To remember what is was like when I was young. Oh to have that feeling again.
This year will be at our daughters house. For the youngest grandson, we always hide his present. We give him a hint then he has to go find it. He has to open the gift before he gets another clue. That way he is not tearing thru them. We buy him little things, or put a dollar in a Christmas bag.
We started this with our 2 older Grandson. Give lots of laugh and hugs.
@Lady_Choo , your badge is awesome! Nice job 🤗
SORRY THIS IS THE ONLY WAY I COULD POST MY COMMENT
For the holidays, my family gets together over a weekend and we exchange names so that we get that person a gift. We decide who's house we are going to eat. People call one another and see what everyone is going to bring to the table. We go to that house and exchange the gifts after we eat. We play games at the end after everyone eats. We have a few people out of the state and they also come in the week before Christmas. The out of town relative stay until New Years and then they fly back.
Lynette I'm trying to post and I've clicked on post comment, I look upward to see if my comment posted and it won't post. I'm going to try this and if it post then I will try my comment again. Thanks
Hi @Lynette
Badge Only Please 😊
The whole family goes to a club for lunch about a week before Christmas. 🎅🏻
On Christmas Day we have an open house policy where anyone can drop in say hello and stay for a while.
New Years we watch the 9pm fireworks 💥.I’m in bed before the fireworks start at midnight 🦋🐨
As I mentioned before, we celebrate in a very classic way. I don't want to repeat everything....
Tomorrow (for me already today) we will go to Dresden and go to the Striezelmarkt (= Christmas market).
I'm re-tagging Pet players as the tags may not have worked earlier - please come and share your holiday Celebrations 😻
Hi Lynette 🙂🤗
Our family traditions involve celebrating Christmas and New Year with family and friends. We gather together every year in one house on both Eves and extend to the next day. We have a sleepover, partying all night, eating delicious foods, opening gifts and lots of games especially for the children. We all attend the Holy Mass prior. We all bring different dishes in the evening and the next day, the elderly family members cook their signature dishes to continue feeding us. It usually end in the evening the following day. So we pretty much are together for more than 24 hours. 😂
Growing up, we were not allowed to party anywhere else especially during New Year's Eve but we can bring friends to our own celebration. The idea is to protect us from any danger outside of our home during this time of the year. We all abide by this rule. Our celebrations were held in rotation from one family home to another. The ones with bigger houses were the ones mostly used.🤣 All the rooms are occupied including the floor, even the couches and living room floor. 😂 My family and relatives are very gracious, welcoming and hospitable. We were brought up this way. Our friends enjoy celebrating with us every year. A lot of good memories!
⭐️ Holiday time for my family in Australia always involves an extended family get together, preferably at the home of someone who has a pool, or lives by the beach...so we can all have a swim afterwards as it's often hot 🌞
@Lady_Choo children always like to come back to their parents' home. be it just to drop by or "to pick up food". When my daughter was not yet a mother, this happened very often. 😂
I hope we can celebrate with the great-grandparents for many years to come. They are over 90 years old and any celebration with them could be the last. 🤷♀️
I love that @DieOmimi 😍
We are having a wander around a Christmas market on Monday so that will be a nice change. I have heard its very expensive though so i think we will just be looking. There is a "big wheel" though so hopefully we might be able to go on that and see the city from above.
Due to "reasons beyond our control" our family has sadly got smaller this year. But we will still have my grandson and his mum for a Christmas eve tea, before (for the first time ever) she spends Christmas eve night at home. She has assured us that she will be up early and informed us she will be staying over a couple of days lol. One of the sons will come over on Christmas day, he is usually working but not staying to eat as his boyfriend will be home alone. So basically he is coming to pick food up so he doesn't have to cook, to take back 🤣🤣 My youngest daughter will be very hyper and my son will be back from Uni so may grace us with 10 minutes of his time. Boxing day will be less hectic but all the food still.
We may have snow as we already have and its very very cold.
Beautiful thread @Lynette.
With us, the holidays will be very traditional. Since we have a big family, we start next week and meet up with my sister to visit the "Striezelmarkt" in Dresden.
Then at the end of next week we expect visitors from the children with granddaughters and will spend nice hours at the Silesian Christmas Market.
Christmas Eve and the Christmas holidays we will be in the "old home" Berlin and will celebrate together with grandchildren, children, grandparents and great-grandparents. 🎄🎁
