  • With the Spooky Season now in full swing, and dangerous Jellynauts running amok, I could not help but hastily put together my fan art of Denize becoming a Jellybuster to save the Candy Kingdom in the event the monsters become too much for Tiffi and Mr. Yeti.

As you can see, this artwork was strongly inspired by Sony Pictures' Ghostbusters film franchise, and is intended to be a parody of it, if the gear Izzy has equipped here is of any indication. For starters, the suit she wears is meant to be similar in texture to a typical Ghostbuster, but is colored pale bluish instead of the beige the Ghostbusters clad themselves in to reflect the jelly in Candy Crush's jelly levels. Ghostbusters also utilize a energy firearm called a neutrona wand to zap and subdue ghosts. For a parody of such famous weapon, I came up with the jujutrona wand, calibrated to obliterate jelly. Both weapons require external power supplied by a backpack, which the Ghostbusters call a proton pack, so I designed the jujutrona wand to connect to a power pack on Izzy's back. To further complete the Ghostbusters tribute, I also added a name badge to the chest, like how a Ghostbuster's last name is badged on their chest.

Because Izzy's species has short arms that are of significant distance from their eyes, I assume they would have poor hand-eye coordination when using a ranged weapon, so I had her wear special high-tech targeting goggles connected to a small camera on the wand that lets her take better aim at the Jellynauts.

The dramatic introduction of Jellybuster Denize that I provided in the comments for the event is also meant to be a parody of the teaser trailer for the 2020 video game Doom Eternal, which shows a landscape overrun by demons that think nothing can stop them until the camera shows the boot of the game's hero, the Doom Slayer, crushing a skull and readying his weapon to confront his enemies. Look it up on YouTube.

  • You've just seen another wonderful Halloween costume that I've come up for Denize to wear and you will not be disappointed - it's a kangaroo costume!

When I realized how much of a mother Izzy is, that Didi is her daughter, and that despite her snaky anatomy, she'd still pass for a kangaroo with Didi in the pouch, and combined all these facts together, I discovered that I've got one new art idea that's too good to trash, so I wasted no time to bring it to life. Especially when I've wanted to know what this monster dragon would imagine her life would be like if she became a mammal instead of a reptile, something that we got a taste of with some recent Disney movies, namely the live-action remake of Pete's Dragon and the new animated Raya and the Last Dragon. I also know some people like to see hybrid animals in their imagination, so this fan art will resound with them so much. So here we have it, yet another awesome Halloween costume combo for Denize and another Candy Crush character!

  • Another interesting fan art of Denize that I've managed to quickly turn around is one where I put her right on the continue prompt if you fail a level with gummi dragons still left to save:

One other reason why I think it's fun to imagine a picture like this, besides how it would make sense for her to personally ask the player to have another go to save her babies, is that it continues the game's running gag that her legs are almost never shown. That's further reinforced by having her tail appear over the gold bar counter. But one change from the typical picture we've seen of her is that the continue prompt will cover her torso because I have to show her begging and folding her hands together as a pleading gesture to appeal to the player directly, and that has to go right onto the edge of the continue prompt. I could also imagine the tail periodically pointing at the continue offer to tempt the player to pay up for the continue.

  • Were you spooked by the horrifying prank that the Bubblegum Troll played on Denize for Halloween? I'd really like to apologize if you have ophidiophobia, first things first, but just look at what she's become!

Izzy has always been so fascinating because as she's an eastern dragon, she's effectively a giant limbed serpent. I then decided for laughs and frights decided to curiously figure out what people would think of her if I made her much more snakelike - and what more perfect time of year to do that other than Halloween? But as I'm quite loathe to let Izzy lose those limbs, you should be grateful that the diabolical transformation prank doesn't remove them, making her look more like the giant dragon Shenron from the DragonBall Z franchise than an actual giant snake.

With giant coils that can take up a huge amount of surface area, and a big forked tongue coming out of those jagged jaws of hers, do you think Izzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzy here is very scary? I don't think you'll find it comfy to be in her coils or belly as Bubblegum Troll would claim.

The Sour-Pent transformation Izzy went through left her with a broken leg, but thanks to her fast healing, and hours of soothing soaks at Lemonade Lake, she's ready to be a Candy Cup cheerleader as I've always imagined her to be, just in time for the quarterfinals!

As always, Izzy's cheerleading outfit must be colored to reflect the attire of all the other characters appearing in the current Candy Cup, so I've taken some pains to make sure her cheerleader gear visually and colorfully fits right in with the rest of the gang! This time, however, I experimented with vertically striping her skirt with pink and white to reflect the striped shirts worn by Tiffi and Mr. Yeti, adding white accents to her pink pom-poms and emblazoning a four-point star onto her bra as a major symbol for this year's Candy Cup. And once again, I can only continue to dream of the day when Izzy will finally be a cheerleader for real! Better beg to your superiors to put her in as one the next time we have a big contest like this! I hear that she might even bring good luck!

  • Izzy salutes all the veteran Crushers who have been brave warriors in conquering the hardest levels! She's not letting her great stature, long neck and short arms get in the way of doing so!

  • You'd never thought dragons could be good firefighters. But Izzy wants to prove you wrong!

The sole inspiration for this unexpected fan art piece was the launch of the new Legendary difficulty tier that promises (or threatens) to be the hardest level no player would want to deal with. Marked with flames so hot you'd need to call a firefighter, these levels would have Tiffi dressed up as a firefighter. Out of curiosity, I began to wonder what people would think if they would see a dragon like Denize becoming a firefighter, which can be quite oxymoronic/ironic since these beasts can easily start fires and are the least likely to be capable of putting them out. But just because she's a dragon doesn't mean we should not expect her to be any good at putting out fires.

I took a lot of cues from Tiffi's firefighting outfit when envisioning how Denize would wear one, and I tried my best to translate the details over. I also decided to show her holding firefighter tools to give you the further impression that she is somewhat capable of firefighting. She holds a hose in her clawed hands, being careful not to cut through it, while using her prehensile tail to hold a big fire axe to break down obstacles. I hope you aren't too afraid of seeing her come to your rescue when you're stuck on these fiery legendary levels!

Happy Thanksgiving! In light of the occasion, I just happened to quickly imagine how Denize would celebrate it in the Candy Kingdom - by cooking a dish that represents her best: the Lemon Dragonberry Sauce! Even sweeter, you can make it in real life if you follow the recipe written up here:

In trying to visualize what the dish should look like, I decided that it would be best to show a close-up picture of her making it in her very own way: taking a scoop out of her own Lemonade Lake, dissolving sugar in it, pouring the cranberries in and blasting the whole mixture with the heat of her fiery dragon breath, all in one saucepan that she holds in a single, clawed hand. (The image also shows the tips of her long barbels hanging just above the pot, to accompany her jaws shooting the fire in a downward direction into the pot's contents.) It's an interesting fresh spin on the homemade cranberry dish that I would wonder if anyone dared to try, and I believe it will remind you of her, with the many tiny cranberries reflecting her beautiful pink scales and the lemonade representing the lake she calls home.

  • Today is Black Friday! As shoppers race to catch the hot deals and steals, I've come to imagine how Izzy would go shopping when the same madness comes to the Candy Kingdom.

The most interesting part of this Black Friday fan art of Denize I've made is the dragon purse I designed. It's meant to be themed after her. As her spine is so spiky, its shoulder strap will also be spiky. Brass links, similar to the brass fasteners in the game's paper cutout aesthetic, connect the shoulder strap to the purse's main body, which resembles her head. Thus, it can open and close similarly to that huge, jagged mouth of hers. It even has decorative strings standing in for her barbels!

  • Christmas season is already in full swing and I'll have 2 new fan art works coming down the pipeline! The first one will come exactly on Christmas Day, and the second one will release on New Year's Day. What's special about this second one is that it's the answer to a mystery trivia question about Denize that I popped after seeing her trying to swim in the ongoing in-game Holiday Season, a cold season where all the lakes and rivers would freeze, and realizing that she can be very sensitive to cold as a reptile. The question I'm asking is: Where in the Candy Kingdom would Denize go to warm herself up when Lemonade Lake freezes in the winter? You have the rest of the month to figure out the answer. More information about it can be viewed here:

One additional hint for this question, in addition to the one I provided as a comment to this post, is the word CLIMB. Good luck!
