I’ve been getting this error for quite a while when I ask friends for lives. When’s that bug going to be fixed? I updated the game yesterday, it’s still not going away.

Since there's no specific timeline on when the issue is going to be fixed. You may intermittently disconnect your game from the internet/wifi, wait for several seconds or more before reconnecting the game back to the internet. Wait for all the background to be properly loaded and play a level.
Try and send a life to your friend and see whether it will go through. Please let us know if you need help with other issues.
