As soon as you enter the game to play, you lose a life. Since the game is available when you are not using it, it is still lost. Please don't worry, you will get live after 30 minutes or from the players. Even as functions, there are boosters with hours of life.

Sorry I didn't specify I was talking about the vs game. Maybe I'm posting in wrong spot? It just happened again. I had 4 when tried to play but "no opponent was found" so hit "try again" then the "something went wrong" popped up, now I'm at 3.
I like playing against someone but it's frustrating since it's an hour wait to try again and a try is lost when I didn't even play. The "something went wrong" came up at end of game where the" winner" shows up and I lost my streak standing. Am I doing something wrong or is it continuous problems with the game?

If you want to try uninstall and install steps, you have your gold bars are saved/transfered but all of the boosters have lost and some events will be reset and gone.
By the way, this feature is still tested that's means it's still not complete to be fixed to everyone on this game yet.
