Why is my game starting at level 1 each time I close it then reopen it to play again?

I am on level 934 and each time I close my app on my iPad and my phone then reopen it to play again it takes back to level 1 then I have to scroll all the way back up. Is there a fix for this. It just started doing it after the most recent update. Please let me know something soon. I really love playing this game but I am playing a lot less frequently because of this issue. It is very inconvenient.
