Is there a way to recover your candy crush game?

I recently had an issue with my iPad in which a reset was done at Apple. The backup was not completed and we lost everything. Is there a way I can get back to my game progress?

I think the only way is if you connected your game to either Facebook or Kingdom previously as it's recommend in order to save your progress.
