Candy Crush Saga will not connect to Facebook on my iPad

I have updated FB, Candy Crush, etc yet I get an error message saying taking too long to connect to FB. This only happens on my iPad, not my iPhone or laptop. Also, no problem with Candy Cruch Soda.  I have checked everything I can think of.  Problem has existed for nearly a week and since the iPad is my preferred platform for playing this game I guess maybe it is time for me to give up on it.
