What a certain symbol means and how do I destroy it

In a special section (400 levels) there is a game where you climb a birthday cake, 3 levels. If you win you move up, but if you lose, you move back down.  In the 1st level, there is a blocker that looks like a piece of popcorn.  What is this and how do I destroy it? There is a color bomb under it

You need to make combinations next to it 2 or 3 times in order to make it 'pop' and remove it from the board.
