For the 2nd time in a week, everything, except my gold has disappeared. I even lost levels in the game. Why

It sounds to me like you have just lost connection to whatever you were sync'd with. Did you use kingdom or facebook. Just reconnect, disconnect etc, your progress should come back. Then in the app settings there's a restore purchases button to get your gold back
