Messages and items don't sync between devices since they only get locally stored, it's only progress and gold bars that do. If you want the lives to go to the iPad then i'd disconnect FB from the game on your iPhone and make fresh requests from the game on your iPad, that should do the trick and get them flowing on that side.

That was not my question. Regardless of where I am playing, my Facebook friends are no longer showing up for me to request lives, only people that do not play the game. They used to all be there.
