My Candy Crush Saga has begun to not work well at all.

I never receive any of the lives that my friends have sent me and when you  pass a level it will not let you go to that level unless you go out of the game and then back in and all of the level markers are flashing which they never did before.  Please help me get my favorite game back up and running.  Thanks.
