Cant pick my friends to send lives too. How come?

I have several friends that play Candy Crush Saga. I go to the game and try to send them a life and they are not in my friends list that FB chooses for me. Then one day they are. But I am not able to pick friends I want to send lives too, FB picks them for me. Why??

This is just part of the game design. It's different in each King game and in Candy Crush there is no option to search for specific friends.
