Updated to latest version of Candy Crush Saga and it returned me to Level 1.

After updating Candy Crush Saga to latest version on my ipad, the next time I connected via facebook to the game it returned me to Level 1 and erased my gold bars and boosters.  I was previously at Level 1018.  Nothing I have tried has restored the game to that level.  Please help as I don't want to start over!
