Changing Point Requirements

I am on level 1992 which required 225,000 points to pass. On my board it shows my friend passed with 153,520 points. On doing research, I see that the requirement used to be only 150,000 points. Why has this been increased? I would say it is almost impossible to pass at 225,000 points. It is not marked as a hard level. Any thoughts or suggestions?

I've seen other levels that gets changed over time - either more difficult or easier to pass.
